What is the W5 version in TON Space and how does it work

The W5 version is a new and enhanced version of the TON Space wallet that provides greater flexibility, convenience and new features for users.


Key Benefits of W5:

  • Fee payment in multiple tokens: Support for paying network fees not only in TON, but also in USDT, NOT, DOGS, BOLT and other tokens.
  • New standard for all wallets: All new TON Space wallets are now created using the W5 standard by default.
  • Expanded capabilities: Improved compatibility with dApps and DeFi services.

If you created your TON Space earlier (using v4R2 or Beta W5), you can manually upgrade to the new W5 standard. When doing so:

  • A new W5 address will be generated.
  • Your seed phrase (recovery phrase) will remain the same.
  • You will need to manually transfer your assets from the previous address to the new one.
  • Token transfers to the new address must be done by you.

Important notes when upgrading:

  • All previously connected applications (such as decentralized services) will be disconnected.
  • We recommend reconnecting them to the new W5 wallet to ensure proper functionality.

How to upgrade to the new W5 version in TON Space

To switch to the W5 version, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  2. Go to the TON Space section.
  3. Open the TON Space Version menu.
  4. Select the address marked with W5 to activate it.

How to switch back to the old v4R2 version in TON Space

To return to the v4R2 version, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  2. Go to the TON Space section.
  3. Open the TON Space Version menu.
  4. Select the address marked with v4R2 to activate it.

What happens to my account on the Beta W5 version in TON Space

The Beta W5 version is no longer supported in TON Space, as it was a temporary test version of the W5 standard.

To continue using all features of the service:

  • Transfer your tokens from the old Beta W5 address to your current W5 address.
  • This will allow you to fully benefit from everything TON Space offers, including fee payments in tokens and compatibility with new dApps.

Funds sent to the wrong version

In TON Space, you can switch between different wallet versions. Each version has its own address, even though the Secret Phrase remains the same.

If your funds aren’t showing up, they may have been sent to an address from another version of TON Space.

To check:

  1. Go to Settings → TON Space → TON Space Version.
  2. Select the W5 version if it’s not already active. Your funds might be located there.

W5 supports paying fees not only in TON but also in tokens like USDT, NOT, BOLT, CATI, and others.

⚠️ When switching versions, all previously connected apps will be disconnected and must be reconnected manually.

What are "Gasless" transactions in W5


Gasless transactions allow you to pay the network fee (gas fee) not in TON, but in other supported tokens such as:

  • USDT
  • NOT
  • DOGS
  • BOLT
  • HMSTR and others.

This feature is available in the W5 version of TON Space and works when you’re sending one of these supported tokens — the fee will be deducted from the same token.

If you are sending TON, the fee must be paid in TON — using other tokens is not supported for TON transfers.


How fees work in older versions:

If you're using version v4R2 or Beta W5, every outgoing transaction requires TON on your balance — typically around 0.35 TON to cover the gas fee.

Advantages of the W5 Version:

  • Pay fees directly with the token you're sending.
  • Simplified user experience — no need to maintain a TON balance for each operation.
  • Expanded token support and improved compatibility with dApps.

All newly created TON Space wallets now use the W5 standard by default.


How to upgrade to the W5 Version:

If your wallet was created in an older version (v4R2 or Beta W5), you can manually switch to W5:

  • A new address will be generated during the upgrade.
  • Your seed phrase will remain the same.
  • You will need to manually transfer your assets to the new address.

Note: When switching versions, all connected apps will be disconnected. Be sure to reconnect them to the new version for proper functionality.


How to use the “Gasless” Feature in W5:

To make a transaction without paying the fee in TON:

  1. Go to the page of the token you want to send (e.g., USDT).
  2. Tap “Send”.
  3. Enter the recipient’s address and the amount.
  4. In the “Fee Payment” field, choose an available token (e.g., USDT).
  5. Review the fee amount and confirm the transfer.
